rights of passage of living in norway =)
hartvig & gunnstein, two of my skier buddies from my hafjell ski trip invited me for dinner last night, actually my first real homecooked norwegian meal!

it was very good!! mystery meat... and poteter, løk,paprika, og ikke minst TYTTEBÆRSYLTETØY! (potatoes, onions, peppers... and berry jam that you always have with meat!!). and the norwegian specialty that i didn't recognize... they didn't tell me what it was until after dinner, so i could enjoy it unbiasedly!
hartvig: are you skeptical?
me: uh, no... just...curious!
hartvig: that's just a nice word for skeptical!
haha.. okay, so secret norwegian specialty turned out to be "blodpølse som er lagd av blod(42%) kjøtt og fett fra storfe og gris, sukker, rosiner, mel fra ulike kornsorter, krydder, og andre tilsetningsstoffer."
which, in english translates to:
"Blood sausage... made of 42% blood; meat and fat from (storfe? im not even sure what animal that is?!) and pig... and sugar, raisins & different kinds of grains"!!! oh dear..

hartvig, after telling me what i'd eaten! haha... but really, it wasn't so bad, it was pretty tasty (although im glad i didnt know what it was before)!!
hehe.. and after dinner, we went out and they intiated me into...

the life of a hunter! these guys have beaver skins, badger skins, deer skins.. a giant moosehead... in their house! you name it, hartvig & gunnstein have hunted it! =) (and they're really fun & hardcore outdoorsy... they lived in a tent near campus all last semester!!)

me with, fortunately, an air gun.
hehe.. and as a little token of appreciation for the authentic norwegian experiences...

we had a nice CANADIAN breakfast at my place this morning, with pancakes and real canadian maple syrup! =)
det var kjempe gøy, mine venner!! takk for det!! Gud velsigne dere!

umm, blood sausage...yeah, every country seems to have its own version of it eh? i think in asian cuisine, there's blood congee... then in ecuador there's just straight up chunks of blood that look like pellets on your plate :|
